Burial of Mrs. Kowalski. Her husband, Walt Kowalski (Clint Eastwood), awaits the arrival of the church attendees. The children, hoping that everything happens fast. Grandchildren, dressed inappropriately and joking the religious ceremony. In the end, everything ends and everyone goes to your house. hi
The old man Kowalski is a conservative, traditional ferme and grumpy, old school, and lives in a district of Michigan being so blatantly invaded by Korean immigrants with a predominantly Hmong.
I remember a few years ago some friends, including glasses, made jokes about the film. S'insultaven and laughed. They were: Fucking old, of 'Gran Torino'. How good it is. I did not understand why. I must confess that Clint Eastwood has never been my holy devotion. His films and the way they tell stories I find cool. I guess I can not get me head first close-ups with the icy gaze of westerns. 'Mystic River' (2003), 'Million Dollar Baby' (2004), Los Bridges of Madison "(1995), 'Beyond Life' (2010), 'Flags of nuestros padres' (2006)' Letters From Iwo Jima '(2006) and Invictus (2009) were big disappointments for me, although the latter less so outright.
So, this time with all my strength shunned the movie that everyone farewell defined as stellar Eastwood and definitive interpretation of the world. Stellar yes, but ultimately it was not definitive (see 'Golpe hi de efecto' (2012) director Robert Lorenz).
Anyway, a few weeks ago I dared to break the promise and decided to watch 'Gran Torino' (2008). Now I regret having waited so. Is one of those gems that only arise occasionally and I do remember that the film is just not wanting to take his eyes off the screen. With a cast mostly Hmong and the brief appearance of Scott Eastwood, son of the director, the old Kowalski drop me loud and makes me angry at the same time, but especially excites me. I just understood hi their traumas and their quirks, and also thanking you spend grumpy personality.
Before the credits, hi the last sequence of the car away with the music of Jamie Cullum served reflective background. Not all the films I produce this sensation. Some are over, I get up and melts in black. With this I can not. Pushes me against the chair because think, because you spend a while. I wonder why he was so unjustly treated no Oscar nomination. Then I come to any insults of old, the outbursts, the insolence and at that time I just thought: Fucking old, of 'Gran Torino'. How good it is.
You know I wanted to comment here :-) And you know, even though hi I find a movie Gran Torino awesome, hi I really, really tried to like as a director of Nuestros Flags and Letters From Iwo Jima parents . Makes a spectacle of mirrors between the two tapes, taken individually they are nothing fancy (I like the Japanese view, it must be said). Clint Eastwood, in my opinion, better actor than director, despite hi the unforgettable The Good, the Bad and the Ugly :-) Delete Reply
