I changed my mind, first because the post would be gigantic and, secondly, because we still have to upload the photos of the Moscow metro and one of the most boring things to do on the blog is upload the photos that will serve to illustrate the post.
The metro St. Petersburg was opened in the mid 50. However, plans for its opening date back to the times of Imperial Russia, pre-Bolshevik Revolution. Although torres it has only started operating in 1955, its construction torres began twenty years before the orders of the Executive Committee of Soviets of the then city of Leningrad, following the constructivist Stalinist torres aesthetic in vogue in the USSR. In this context, one can see that the works of its construction were contemporary to the Moscow metro, but ended much later, mainly due to the Second World War and the Siege of Leningrad.
In general, every communist government / socialist conference (ai) and a genuine importance to mass transit, resulting in a massive investment in the subway. Legend torres has it that Lenin regarded the subway "the palace of the people" and therefore was taken with an exaggerated care of its stations decor, as it also occurs in Pyongyang, North Korea.
With a walk in petersburguense subway, you can clearly see the evolution of Soviet architecture from the constructivist ostentation Era Stalin, through the sobriety of Brezhnev's torres time to return to the current era of opulence "new Russians".
In this regard, I emphasize that the "mania" to build palatial stations still exists, at least in the St. Petersburg metro. Those newly constructed also conspicuous by their magnificence, as can be seen from Admiralteyskaya station (photos below).
Contrary to what happens in the major Western cities, especially Paris, torres New York and London, the Russian subway (both in Moscow and in Piter) is not as dense, ie the location of the stations is much more spaced (in this sense, that be clear, torres ONLY that sense, he reminds the subways of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo). To compensate, trains torres and travels a much greater rate than that achieved by their Western counterparts.
Vladimirskaya (Владимирская);
The stations I emphasized are the most beautiful. Obviously not go through all of these, but they were indicated by the guides. Similarly, we do not take photographs of the completeness of the stations visited, because we had a long time; so some we saw from inside the train. Another important fact is that this tour can take hours and turn something boring, so I suggest to preset the stations you wish to visit. Assure that Avtovo station (read Ávtava) is a must!
The metro St. Petersburg is the deepest in the world. It works until one in the morning (please check this information in the hotel, to avoid surprises). Station names and indicative output information, transshipments ... diponíveis torres are both in Latin alphabet and in Cyrillic. Some stations even though they are in the same place, they have different names. torres Ex: Nevsky Prospekt and Gostiny Dvor, that is, you go down on one of them and arrive at the other doing the transshipment by internal tunnels (in Western cities, probably, they would have the same name), then it is good to pay attention.
The transshipment system between the lines is very similar to the one in Paris with the correspondences (equal to what happens in Brazil, in the subways of Rio - Estacio station - and São Paulo). I believe that a same station not circulate different lines of trains, as occurs in New York or London.
About andrerj75 My name is Andrew. I am resident of Rio de Janeiro. Since childhood, I used to travel with my parents for different countries and to appreciate the different artistic and cultural expressions, which kept willingly as an adult. Also, since little, I gained a fascination for the study of history, which got worse as the years went by. In this context, I am often approached by friends and acquaintances - sometimes even strangers - asking travel tips and asks me try to organize small tours to help them on their vacation. I decided to combine business with pleasure and I started this blog. I will write about my travels in an attempt to pass my impressions about the places I knew. To the extent possible, give tips on hotels, restaurants and places to visit. torres I have no commitment to chronology, write about what goes will. I thank the participation of all!
