To have the opportunity to stay in France and study is probably a dream for many Swedes. There is much to attract the country and its culture. We are three close friends who are in the same city on the exchange semester, namely Toulouse.
In France, it means a lot for people to just meet and talk over a cup of coffee and / or a croissant. Toulouse absolutely oozing of cafes and bakeries in every single house construction. Wherever you go, you feel the smell of freshly baked baguettes and other goodies. Traffic is always filled with people who just sit and talk.
We live in a cozy little apartment along the heart of the city, right next to the main square which is filled with market stalls every day except Sundays and Mondays. There is also Le Capitole is a well-known historical building that means a lot to the inhabitants and is also one of the city's sights for tourists.
A typical day goes up around 7:00 to eat breakfast and get ready for the lecture. Around 08:00 we go away from home to take the subway and then a bus to the Toulouse Business School, which is located a bit outside central Tououse. The lecture starts at. 09:00 and lasts for three hours. The lectures are very interactive between students and teachers, noticing that students are accustomed to this, and is very good at discussing. We have classes together with most French students but also other exchange students krone and everything we read in English.
Going on exchange term is of course about much more than just studying. Toulouse is a relatively large city with about 400 000 inhabitants and about 100 000 students (!!!), therefore there is much to see and do. If you want to go out at bars or dance, you can do it in principle any day. Thursdays is however a normal day to go out as a student, not Wednesdays in Sweden. At weekends, one can really party all night long until the early morning hours when some clubs close at 9:00!
The range of bars and clubs are great, just as cafes and restaurants. We often go and have a coffee and maybe a little plugs in a café rather than at home. If you do not, you can just stroll around the city and look at old houses and buildings. It floats even a small channel and a major river through the city that are linked together by all its bridges. Where it is popular to exercise around with very soothing views.
